(DOWNEY, Calif.) PLNU Women's Golf couldn't have asked for a better start to its spring season.

Point Loma won both the team and individual titles at the LA Spring Kickoff on Tuesday, with Allie Nguyen claiming the individual crown and the Sea Lions as a group defeating second-placed Cal State Monterey Bay by 18 strokes.

Nguyen entered the day in a three-way tie for first at one-under for the tournament, along with teammate Bella Gunasayan, but pulled away on the back-nine with three straight birdies on holes 14-16 to win the individual title by three strokes.

Her four-under final round of 68, which was the best of any player across the three rounds, included four birdies and no bogeys, as she led the tournament with 39 pars.

Gunasayan kept herself in contention with a one-over 73 to finish third individually, while Annika Yturralde shot even-par (72) to move up into a tie-for-fourth and make it three Sea Lions in the top-five of the leaderboard.

Yturralde excelled on par-fives in the tournament, shooting eight-under on those holes, three shots better than any other player.

Avery Sky had the second-best final round of any Sea Lion, shooting a one-under 71 with four birdies to move into 16th place individually. Summer Schafer placed 22nd in her first tournament with PLNU.

Point Loma entered the day in the team lead, eight strokes ahead of CSUMB, but shot 10 strokes better than the Otters on Tuesday to run away with the team title. The Sea Lions shot four-under as a team on the day.

PLNU has now won a golf tournament in four-straight seasons.

Point Loma returns to the course at the Pioneer Shootout at Corica Park South in Oakland (Feb. 23-24).
