(CHICO, Calif.) No. 16 PLNU Baseball swept both games of Friday's doubleheader at Chico State by identical scorelines of 4-1 to clinch the series with one game left to play on Saturday.

Point Loma won game one of the day by scoring all four runs in the top of the eighth, with
Hank Smith providing the go-ahead hit before earning the save on the mound.

Jake Schwartz tied the game with an RBI-single, setting up Smith to score two with a double to left that give the Sea Lions their first lead of the day.

Aiden Arriaga then rounded out the scoring with a sacrifice fly, before Smith came on to record the final six outs on the mound to earn his second save of the season.

Starting pitcher
Glen Huggins pitched six innings and allowed only a single run, with
Matt Elliot claiming the win with a scoreless inning in relief.

Then in game two, freshman
Vaughn Neckar recorded his second win in as many starts, pitching 6.2 innings of one-run ball.
Tyler Pechetti recorded the final out to get the save.

Tristan Moore opened the scoring with an RBI-single in the third, before PLNU scored twice in the fourth, with Smith homering to right and
Mason Cook laying down a sacrifice bunt to make it 3-0 Sea Lions.

Chico State got one back in the sixth, only for PLNU to go back up by three in the seventh on Schwartz's RBI-groundout.

Point Loma (4-2 overall) and Chico State will conclude their series on Saturday at noon.
