POINT LOMA SETS NCAA ERA PROGRAM BEST WINNING STREAK

(FRESNO, Calif.) No. 8 PLNU Baseball set a new NCAA-era program record with its 18th straight victory, sweeping Friday's doubleheader with Fresno Pacific by 10-5 and 19-1 scorelines.

Point Loma's 18-straight wins surpasses the previous program record of 17 in-a-row in 2015.

Owen May and Jack Ryan homered in game one, while May, Hank Smith and Aiden Arriaga all added two-RBI base hits.

In game two, Point Loma put up a nine-spot in the top of the first, as the Sea Lions sent 13 batters to the plate in the inning.

PLNU then scored in every other inning in the seven-inning contest, providing more than enough run support for Vaughn Neckar, Tyler Pechetti and Matt Garrison who combined to strike out seven and allow just a single run.

Starting pitchers Derek Silva (6-0) and Neckar (7-0) earned the wins to maintain perfect records on the mound this season.

Tristan Moore (3 RBI) doubled twice in game two as part of his three-hit game.

PLNU has now scored double-digit runs in four-straight games for the second time this season.

Point Loma (22-3 overall, 18-0 PacWest) concludes its conference series with Fresno Pacific on Saturday with a doubleheader slated to start at 11 a.m.
