(RICHMOND, Calif.) PLNU Women's Golf won its second tournament of the season, placing first at The Big Freeze on Tuesday at Richmond G.C.
Point Loma, which previously won the LA Spring Kickoff on Feb. 3, has now won multiple tournaments in a season for the first time since 2020-21.
PLNU entered Tuesday with a six-shot lead over tournament hosts Dominican and extended that to 11 strokes after once again shooting the best round of any team.
Summer Schafer shot her second-consecutive round of even-par to finish tied-for-second, carding five birdies on the day, as she finished just one shot behind the individual winner.
Bella Gunasayan (6th) and
Allie Nguyen (T-13th) both tallied three birdies each in their second-round 74's.
Annika Yturralde (T-13th) and
Avery Sky (17th) both finished in the top-20 for the Sea Lions, while
Giana Gunasayan (8th) placed in the top-10 as an individual.
Schafer tied for the lead among all players with eight birdies across the two rounds, as did Sky with 26 pars.
As a team, Point Loma shot 12-under on par-five holes, eight shots better than the next closest team, while leading the tournament with 25 total birdies and 102 pars.
PLNU will play next at the RJGA Palm Valley Classic, April 3-4, in Goodyear, Arizona at Palm Valley G.C.
