(SAN DIEGO) No. 4 PLNU Baseball swept Biola on Senior Day to close out the regular season with a pair of wins, 9-4 and 6-1, on Saturday in Carroll B. Land Stadium.
Hank Smith's two-RBI triple in the bottom of the first gave Point Loma the lead in game one, before
Jack Ryan and
Tristan Moore provided run-scoring base hits in a six-run third inning.
Glen Huggins earned his sixth win of the season with six quality innings, allowing only three runs and just one after the first.
Devin Norton then dealt in game two, throwing a seven-inning complete game with only a single run conceded.
PLNU scored in four straight innings, with
Josiah Rodriguez,
Owen May and Moore providing RBI-singles, while
Matt Bernath plated one with an RBI-double.
Point Loma (41-10 overall, 37-7 PacWest) reached the 40-win mark for the third time in five seasons and will be the No. 1 seed in next week's PacWest Championships, which begin on Wednesday in Santa Barbara on the campus of Westmont College.
