(PUEBLO, Colo.) PLNU Women's Tennis surged in the second round at the NCAA West Regional, finishing day one in sixth place out of 18 teams on the leaderboard.
After sitting in 12th position after round one, Point Loma moved up six spots on the leaderboard with the best second round of any team.
Annika Yturralde sank a birdie putt from off the green to close out her day, shooting an even-par 71 in the second round to sit in a tie for second as an individual.
Bella Gunasayan shot back-to-back rounds of 77 to be in a tie for 14th, while
Allie Nguyen impressed in the second round with a 74.
Yturralde's sensational birdie putt was only surpassed by Nguyen's incredible eagle on the par-five fifth hole, where she holed out for eagle from 104 yards out.
Nguyen was one of only four players to card an eagle across the two rounds on Monday, while her four birdies on the day are tied for the seventh most among all players.
Ytturalde and Gunasayan both recorded 24 pars, just one behind the tournament leader in the category. Both also are tied for second in the tournament with a one-over score on par-three holes, while Yturralde is one-under on par-fives.
Point Loma will conclude the regional tournament on Tuesday with 18 holes.
