(SAN DIEGO) Point Loma led the PacWest with three student-athletes being voted the PacWest Scholar-Athletes of the Year in their respective sports, as announced by the conference on Tuesday.
Maddie Reeves (Women's Cross Country),
Annika Yturralde (Women's Golf) and
Alina Kupfer (Women's Tennis) all earned the distinction, with PLNU pacing the PacWest for the most Scholar-Athletes of the Year for the third straight time.
Reeves (3.99 GPA) broke her own PLNU Women's Cross Country 6K record on multiple occasions, including when she finished a program-best fourth at the NCAA West Regional to become the first Sea Lion since 2017 to qualify as an individual for the NCAA Championships, where she placed 43rd.
The two-time All-Region selection in cross country finished third at the PacWest Championships to earn All-PacWest recognition for the third straight season.
Yturralde (3.79 GPA) became the second Sea Lion to be named the PacWest Women's Golf Player of the Year. The First Team All-PacWest selection posted the best finishes by an individual in program history at the NCAA West Regional (third) and NCAA Championships (31st).
She also placed seventh at the PacWest Championships, one of her three top-10 and six top-15 individual finishes on the season.
Kupfer (3.96 GPA) became the first PLNU Women's Tennis player to win the ITA Division II West Regional singles championship. She went 13-7 in singles and 19-1 in doubles this past season, leading the Sea Lions to the Round of 16 at the NCAA Championships.
The All-PacWest performer in both singles and doubles was also named the ITA West Region Senior Player of the Year.
All three will now be in contention for the PacWest Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year award.
