(SAN DIEGO) PLNU Volleyball outside hitter
Abigail Nua added one more award to her storied Sea Lions career on Friday, being named the PacWest Female Athlete of the Year.
Nua is the second PLNU student-athlete to earn the conference's top female athletic award, joining women's soccer defender Emma Thrapp (2023-24).
The senior outside hitter became the first Sea Lion to earn National Player of the Year honors, being named the Ron Lenz National Player of the Year by the Division 2 Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA).
The two-time First Team All-American was also selected as the West Region Player of the Year by the D2CCA and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) after being tabbed as the PacWest Player of the Year for the second straight season.
Nua ranked fifth in all of NCAA Division II this past year in both kills per set (4.78) and points per set (5.33), leading the Sea Lions to their first ever West Region championship and to the national semifinals for the first time.
She also led Point Loma to its second PacWest title in three seasons, while finishing her career ranked fourth in program history in career kills (1,618), which are the most by a Sea Lion since 2003.
Nua also became the first in program history to earn All-American honors in four seasons.
