NO. 10 UCCS BEATS RV PLNU TO OPEN NEW SEASON

(COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.) RV PLNU Women's Soccer scored twice in its 2026 season opener at No. 10 UCCS but suffered a 6-2 defeat against the Mountain Lions on Thursday night.
 
After UCCS took an early lead 49 seconds into the match, Emma Naftzger equalized for the Sea Lions 13 minutes later with her first collegiate goal.
 
Naftzger found the back of the net with her left foot off a Priya Torres assist as Point Loma responded well to going down a goal early.
 
However, UCCS then took a 2-1 halftime lead before scoring three goals in a three-minute span early in the second half.
 
Abby Wright brought one back for the Sea Lions in the 68th minute, with Naftzger turning provider, as the Samford transfer scored for the first time in a PLNU uniform.
 
Point Loma (0-1 overall) concludes its season-opening trip to Colorado on Saturday with a match at MSU Denver. Kick-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. PT / 6 p.m. MT.
