(GOODYEAR, Ariz.) PLNU Women's Golf is in fourth place after Monday's first round of the RJGA Shootout at Estrella, the team's first tournament of the fall season.
 
"Our first tournament of the season is a special one, especially it being my first as a head coach," Head Coach Miranda Greene said. "I'm so excited for the future of this team and this is just the starting point.
 
"Our goal was to be fully committed to each shot and stay in the moment, and we did just that."

Summer Schafer is the top Sea Lion on the individual leaderboard in a tie for sixth after shooting an even-par 72. Annika Yturralde and Estibaly Garcia are a shot behind in a tie for 13th after their first rounds of 73.
 
Giana Gunasayan (T-28th) is also in the top-30 after her opening round 76.
 
"Summer led us with an impressive even-par round," Greene said. "It was great to see us finish strong, with Estibaly birdieing her final three holes. I'm incredibly proud of the fight these ladies showed and the way they fought for each other."
 
Schafer shot one-under on both par-threes and par-fives, while Yturralde was even on par-fours and par-fives.
 
Garcia's four birdies are tied for the second most among all players, while Yturralde's 15 pars rank third.

Point Loma will conclude its season-opening tournament on Tuesday with the second and final round, which will begin at 7:45 a.m.
