(GOODYEAR, Ariz.) PLNU Women's Golf moved up a spot on the final day of the RJGA Shootout at Estrella, finishing in third place out of 16 teams in its first tournament of the 2026-27 season.
 
Point Loma entered the day in fourth place after combining to shoot a 294 as a team on Monday, before improving by one stroke to card a 293 as a group in Tuesday's second and final round to move into third position.
 
Summer Schafer shot a three-under 69 to move up from sixth to second place individually, opening her round with an eagle on the par-four first before closing out her front nine with back-to-back birdies. Schafer was the only player to record an eagle on Tuesday and one of only two players to do so in the entire tournament.
 
Annika Yturralde also carded three birdies on the day, shooting her second consecutive round of one-over par (73) to climb from T-13th to T-6th.
 
Allie Nguyen had the biggest jump of any Sea Lion on the day, as her one-over 73 jumped her up from T-47th to T-23rd.
 
Estibaly Garcia and Cristen Legaspi (individual) both tied for 25th, while Giana Gunasayan tied for 33rd.
 
Point Loma competes next at the Westminster Wasatch Invitational, Sep. 20-21, in South Jordan, Utah.
