(SAN DIEGO) No. 18 PLNU Volleyball had an eight-match winning streak against Hawai'i Hilo end on Monday night, as the Vulcans defeated the Sea Lions in three sets (25-20, 25-21, 26-24) in Golden Gym.
 
Libero Kira Federico nearly set a career high with 21 digs in just three sets.
 
Hilo limited Point Loma's offense to a .113 attack %, its lowest in any match this season.
 
PLNU led 17-14 in set one after Hailey Clark and Gianna Callari combined for one of the team's nine blocks on the night, before UHH fought back to take the opening stanza.
 
The Sea Lions then led 10-6 in set two following back-to-back blocks from Kyra Miles, only for the Vulcans to battle back and take a 2-0 match lead.
 
PLNU showed fight in the third set, holding set point at 24-23 when Sophia Baugh and Finn Higginbotham blocked a UHH attack, but the visitors scored the next three points to win the match in three.
 
Baugh posted a double-double of 23 assists and 10 digs. Callari led the attack with 10 kills and a .333 attack %.
 
Point Loma (7-4 overall, 3-2 PacWest), who had won its previous three matches, now travels to Northern California to play at Dominican on Friday (6 p.m.) and Jessup on Saturday (1 p.m.).
