PLNU Athletics

AS A JUNIOR (2011-12):
Played in 11 events and 33 rounds for PLNU…Averaged 76.79 strokes per round…Posted three top 10, and six top 10 finishes…Helped Point Loma win the Mustang Invite, Cal State San Marcos Invite and NAIA National Qualifier…Best finish came at the Mustang Invitational where he tied for the team-lead and second overall with a 1-over, 217…Also placed in the top 10 at the NAIA National Qualifier (8th) and the PLNU/Smee Builders Invite (T9th)…Shot a low round of 71 (-1) in the second round of the Hanny Stanislaus Invite.

AS A SOPHOMORE (2010-11):
Was the GSAC/CalPac/Cascade NAIA Qualifier medalist after shooting 213 over three rounds… also earned third-team All-American status… in seven events averaged 74.32 over 22 rounds… tied for fourth at the CSU San Marcos Invite (219)… fifth at the CSUB Invite (214)… low round was 69 at the CSUB Invite.

AS A FRESHMAN (2009-2010):
Was in seven tournaments with 20 rounds played… shot a 76.60 average over the year… had 36 birdies and one Eagle… low round was 69 and best finish was tied for second at the San Diego Intercollegiate (69-76—145)… three-round low score was 218 at the Grand Canyon Invite… tied for 26th at the NAIA Qualifier.

PRIOR TO PLNU:
Spent four years as a Crusader at Mater Dei Catholic High School… received four varsity letters under coach Bill Gerkin… best performance was a 32 in a nine hole match.

PERSONAL:
Born in San Diego, CA to parents Esther and Hector… siblings are Hector Jr. and Alma… sister, Alma O’Quinn also attended PLNU… came to PLNU to build a solid relationship with God, receive a good education, and to play the sport he loves… favorite athletes are Ladanian Tomlinson and Kobe Bryant… favorite food is Mexican, and favorite TV show is Sports Center…An Industrial Organizational Psychology major who would like to play on tour.
