About PLNU Intramurals

Intramurals: A place for play, participation, and competition through sports

The Intramural Department strives to create an environment for PLNU students, faculty, and staff to participate in traditional intra-school recreational sports.

We are here to:
• create safe, fun, and fair competition for all participants.
• offer an opportunity for exposure to a variety of sports, fitness, and recreational pursuits.
• develop and model Christian ideals in play and competition that enhances personal growth

Isaiah 40:31 ... but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.

HOW TO JOIN
We have an "open enrollment" procedure, meaning students, faculty, and staff may formulate their own teams for intramural participation. You can become a team co-captain and form your own team, or you may join an existing team. You can sign up as an individual on a "Free Agent" list and we will try and place you on an existing team. (NOTE: it is best for you to find or form your own team.) Stop by the intramural bulletin board located inside the southeast corner of Golden Gymnasium to get intramural calendars and sign-up sheets or print out the online sheets below.

ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST REGISTER ON WWW.IMLEAGUES.COM/PLNU TO PARTICIPATE IN ANY INTRAMURAL ACTIVITY

Philippians 4:13... I can do all things in Him who strengthens me.

Special events can be held in the gym, the tennis courts, soccer field or the outfield of the baseball field. Examples of such events include, but are not limited to: dodge ball tournament, sand volleyball tournament, badminton tournament and more. For more information, check this website often, or email the Intramural Director, Alisa Ward, at AlisaWard@pointloma.edu.

2 Timothy 4:7 ... I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

WHAT WE OFFER
Leagues: leagues are sports where you commit to a schedule as a team and have weekly league games. Each team who does not forfeit 2x or more is eligible for the play-off tournament. The championship team wins the coveted shirt.

Activities: activities are non-committal, weekly activities where you can come and go as you please. A variety of activities are held all around campus. See Fall and Spring Intramural Calendar for specific details of where and when each activity is held.

1. Circuit Training: is a great boredom buster! circuit training workouts burn more calories than a low-intensity workout as you move quickly from one station to the next.  One day a week usually focuses on lower body and core while the other day focuses more on upper body and core, always targeting strength training and muscular endurance. These classes take place on the east court of the gym.

2. Strength & Conditioning: The Lion's Den (the outdoor weight shed on the west end of the track) is the place to go if you are looking for a workout very similar to a Cross Fit workout. These classes are a high intensity fitness program incorporating elements from several sports and types of exercise. Beginners and those who have a long history with working out are all welcome and encouraged to come do one of these challenging yet rewarding workouts.

3. Yoga: Our yoga courses take place in the ARC on Saturday mornings and out at McCullough Park (Fermanian Business Center)  on Wednesday afternoons. Yoga increases body awareness, relieves stress, helps in concentration, flexibility, strength and so much more. Join us weekly for a yoga class. No experience necessary!
