Landon Burt is the newest member of the PLNU baseball staff. The 2013 season will be Burt’s first, but he began working with the Sea Lion program in the summer of 2012. Burt’s duties at Point Loma are to coach first base, work with the outfielders, teach base running and assist with recruiting.
Prior to coming over to PLNU, Burt was the baseball assistant coach for the Del North High School varsity team for three seasons. The Nighthawks won the league title in their first season as a varsity program, doing so with only sophomores and juniors. Burt has also coached numerous travel teams.
An outfielder for four seasons at San Diego State University (2000-04), Burt hit .343 with 45 runs scored and 30 RBI as a junior, and batted .321 with six homers, 61 runs scored and 40 RBI as a senior.
Following college, Landon was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 27th round of the 2004 draft.He prepped at La Quinta HS, lettering in both baseball and basketball.
Landon’s hobbies include going to the beach with his family. He is married to wife, Kelly, and has two sons, Beckham (3) and Boston (newborn).
