Matt Jervis moved from the diamond to the dugout as the former Sea Lion student-athlete joined the Point Loma baseball coaching staff prior to the 2019 season.
The 2013 graduate of Rancho Bernardo High School, was an All-League and All-CIF section as a senior . He earned three varsity letters playing for the Broncos under head coach, Sam Blalock. After High School, attended Point Loma Nazarene University (2013-2017). Jervis was a three-year starter at second base and earned All-PacWest honors along with multiple PacWest All-Academic awards.
After college graduation, in 2017-2018, Jervis joined the coaching staff at San Diego State University under Coach Mark Martinez as a Graduate Assistant. In 2018, he helped lead the Aztecs to a Mountain West Conference Tournament Championship and an appearance in the Corvallis regional.
In his coaching career, Jervis has run a club team out of San Diego, the San Diego Stars.
Jervis graduated from PLNU as a Cross-Disciplinary Teacher Education major and Athletic Coaching minor. The native of Poway, Calif., recently got engaged to his fiancé, Casey.
