PLNU Women's Cross Country and Track & Field has hired Carolinh Calvert as an Assistant Coach ahead of the 2026-27 year.
Calvert, a former star runner at UC Riverside, will primarily coach PLNU distance runners.
"This is an awesome hire for our team," said the PLNU coaching staff. "Carolinh has a lot of experience and a proven track record at the Division-I level as an elite competitor."
While at UCR, Calvert was a three-time All-Big West honoree in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. She holds a combined six marks on the program's top-10 list in indoor and outdoor track & field.
"I am incredibly excited to join the amazing athletic staff at Point Loma Nazarene University," Calvert said. "From the moment I met the coaches and staff, I could tell this is a program that values meaningful work, intentional relationships, and a strong sense of community. I feel incredibly blessed to become part of a Christ-centered program that aligns so closely with my values and beliefs."
The San Diego native, who works in the Navy as a cyber security engineer, spent the 2026 track & field season as an assistant coach at Glendora High School.
"I look forward to mentoring and investing in our student-athletes, helping them grow not only as competitors, but also as individuals in their academics, faith, and everyday lives," Calvert said. "It is an honor to have the opportunity to serve this outstanding community, and I can't wait to contribute to the continued success of the program."
Calvert, who joined the Performance Elite Running Club after graduating from UCR with a bachelor's degree in computer science, also previously worked as a camp counselor for Runner's Workshop.
"Furthermore, her character and integrity make her a great hire as a leader and coach on staff, and her passion to work with and mentor student-athletes will guide her well," said the PLNU coaching staff. "We're excited to welcome her to the family as the upcoming cross country season approaches."
