Daniel Dyck completed his first season as an assistant coach for PLNU Men's Basketball in 2023-24 after being hired in June 2023.
"I feel so fortunate to add Daniel to our program," Downer said. "His commitment to excellence and consistency as a professional immediately jump out at you when you are around him.
Â
"He has experience in our conference and helped his previous school soar to record-breaking heights in his time there."
Â
Dyck previously served as an assistant coach at Fresno Pacific for five seasons, where he helped the Sunbirds to their two most successful seasons in the NCAA, including an NCAA West Regional appearance in 2020-21.
Â
Prior to the 2018-19 season, he was promoted to Defensive Coordinator, orchestrating consecutive top-25 defenses in NCAA Division II. That included 2020-21 when the Sunbirds ranked No. 2 in defensive field goal %.
Â
"Daniel lives out the mission and purpose of our program and university in everything he does," Downer said. "He is constantly trying to find a way to improve the student-athlete experience and will have an immediate impact on our program."
Â
Most recently, Dyck was an assistant coach for Clovis North High School for one season, leading his team to a 23-8 record, a Tri-River Athletic Conference championship and a CIF Division I State Tournament appearance.
Â
Since December, he also served as an in-season assistant with HD Intelligence, analyzing game film and box scores for NCAA Division I teams such as Arkansas, Florida, North Carolina and Texas Tech.
Â
"It is an exceptional privilege to be able to serve at a university that truly goes the extra mile in serving its students and community," Dyck said. "Coach Downer's vision for the program and mission to provide a transformational experience for our student-athletes is in complete alignment with what our family was searching for.
Â
"We are thrilled to become a part of the Point Loma community and can't wait to see what the future holds here."
