PLNU Athletics

Superb season which culminated in a first team All-American nod… also named to the All-GSAC team… on court one singles was 14-10, including a 6-6 mark against players from the GSAC… was 19-7 as a doubles player, mainly on court one… won both doubles matches at the NAIA National Tournament, defeating teams from Mobile (AL) and Oklahoma Christian… notched wins against players from NCAA DI Villanova and Dartmouth.

Had a tremendous sophomore season for the Sea Lion tennis team… notched 12 wins in singles, playing primarily on court one and also tallied 13 wins in doubles… two of his most impressive efforts were straight-sets wins against division one Air Force Academy and versus Mobile at the national tournament… All-GSAC honors and was named a second-team All-American.

Started in his first year at PLNU going 11-10 in singles with a 5-1 record on court two... best overall record in doubles was 11-5 with partner Jonathon Bowman including 5-3 on court one… won three out of the four matches participated in during the NAIA National Tournament against Olivet with a score of 6-2, 6-0 in singles, and scores of 8-2 and 8-5 in doubles with partner Travis Albaugh.

Besides competing in tennis also played basketball, soccer and cricket… greatest sports thrill was qualifying for Australia’s World Cup… most exciting tennis moment was serving a set worth of aces.

Born June 1, 1987 to mother Lyn… sister is Sarah… came to PLNU to play tennis… enjoys boxing… favorite music group is The Hilltop Hoods… fan of sports teams the Essendon Bombers, Victoria Bushrangers and Melbourne Victory… favorite food is vegemite… Joel’s major is psychology.
