The 2023-24 season marked the seventh season that Lance Hancock has been the head coach of the Point Loma women's golf team.

Under his tutelage, the Sea Lions have rewrote the record books, setting team records for lowest two-round score of even-par and the lowest round (four-under par).

In 2023-23, Point Loma posted its best-ever finish at the NCAA Super Regionals, finishing fifth, while Alli Kim became the first Sea Lion ever to compete at the NCAA Championships. Kim was named PacWest Player of the Year and a WGCA First Team All-American, ranking as high as No. 3 in NCAA Division II according to GolfStat in scoring average.

As a team, PLNU was ranked as high as 13th in NCAA Division II according to GolfStat and 14th in the WGCA Coaches Poll. The Sea Lions were also ranked No. 4 in the NCAA West Regional rankings.

Also during Hancock's tenure, Point Loma won its first-ever PacWest Conference title in 2020-21, while Kim (9) and Raquel Prado (2) have combined to win 11 individual tournaments.

The Sea Lions have also seen success in the classroom under Hancock. In 2019-20, PLNU posted a 3.586 cumulative team grade point average and five of the six student-athletes earned PacWest All-Academic honors.

Before coming to Point Loma, Hancock has playing experience at both the collegiate and professional levels. He participated in the PGA of America program while working as a teaching professional at a popular green-grass resort and, later, spent two decades working in the sports marketing arm with one of the largest OEM's in golf. Coach Hancock has worked with top professional athletes both on the PGA and LPGA Tours, including PGA Hall of Fame members (the late) Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, Johnny Miller - PGA Tour professionals Phil Mickelson and Ernie Els as well as LPGA professionals Annika Sorenstam and Morgan Pressel.

Hancock earned a bachelor's degree from Florida State University in 1982.
