Erica Wessels joins the PLNU coaching staff for the 2012 season. A four-year Sea Lion, Wessels was named to the All-GSAC team twice and was selected as the GSAC Player of the Year in 2011 after the defender helped lead Point Loma to its first conference regular season title. She was also picked as one of the San Diego Hall of Champions Players of the Year.
In 2011, Wessels scored a team-high 12 goals with three assists and went on to earn first team All-American and NAIA All-Tournament team status. During her career at PLNU Wessels scored 18 goals with 4 assists for a total of 40 points. She also helped the Sea Lions reach the NAIA title game in 2009 and the semifinals in 2011.
Erica graduated in 2012 and has a degree in nursing. She prepped at Horizon High School where she earned All-CIF honors three times for Coach Matt Chapman. She was the captain and team MVP as a senior, all the while maintaining a GPA of above 4.0. Was class Salutatorian.
