PLNU’s No. 3 singles player, recording a 12-8 mark, 5-5 against GSAC players… was 15-5 in doubles play, 15 of those matches played on court 3… beat Slavica Milanovic of Lindsey Wilson in three sets in the first round of NAIA play… was 2-1 in doubles play at nationals, picking wins against teams from Lindsey Wilson and Brenau… was named to the All-GSAC team.

Playing in over 50 matches (singles and doubles) her first year at PLNU, Owens managed a singles record of 15-10 and a doubles mark of 15-11… named as an All-GSAC player... at nationals she blanked Katie Evans and Kate Rodgers 8-0 on court one alongside partner Kristin Strimple… she also beat Evans in singles and teamed with Strimple to beat Collins/ Pljuszynyin (SCAD) in the next round of tournament play.

Played for Coach Kimberly Jones at the University of Cincinnati where she was 21-10 in singles on court one, and 15-10 in doubles on courts one and two... named team MVP... best performance was winning the deciding match against Bowling Green... prepped at Emerald Ridge HS under Coach Rocky Poulin for two seasons, competing on court one singles... selected Jaguar team MVP twice and was the League MVP as well... honor roll member.

Born August 12, 1987 in San Diego, CA... parents are Roger and Rita... sister Katie played tennis at Ball State... fan of Reggie Miller... follows the Seattle Seahawks and Indianapolis Colts... lists The Godfather as favorite movie, "Pushing Daisies" as favorite TV show and Panic! At the Disco as favorite music group... hobbies include music, theater, design and sleeping... came to PLNU for the beautiful campus and good tennis program... Rachel is a broadcast journalism major with a minor in theater.
