Marissa Bartello topped her own school-record and earned an NCAA Provisional Standard by running a time of 10:54.31 in the 3000m steeplechase. She shattered her previous school-record, which she set earlier in the season, by over 10 seconds. She moved into fourth on the 2016 NCAA Division II Performance List. She used a competitive racing field to pace her performance over the 3000m and finish second in the race. She was the only freshman in the field. Bartello joins fellow freshman Celine Lum as the first two Sea Lions to earn NCAA Provisional Qualifying Standards.
