Austin Fares and
Tyler Hall scored goals for Point Loma Nazarene but it wasn't enough as NAIA No. 13-ranked Concordia defeated the Sea Lions 3-2 in a GSAC tilt Wednesday afternoon.
The loss drops PLNU to 7-6-1 overall, 1-5 GSAC. With three regular season games remaining, PLNU is sitting in a tie for ninth place in the conference standings. The team in danger of missing the postseason as only the top-eight squads qualify.
Point Loma went ahead with an early goal in minute four. Hall distributed the ball to Fares who charged down the far side of the field and slipped a shot past CUI keeper William Whiddon.
The Eagles (11-2, 5-1) scored the next three goals, however, to take a 3-1 lead. CUI scorers were Edgar Orozco (23:52), Neil Anaya (47:59) and William Prado (72:29).
Hall sliced the deficit to just one goal when he headed in a throw in by
Paul Malherbe in the 84th minute of play. Though the Sea Lions kept up the pressure they weren't able to even the score.
CUI outshot PLNU 17-11 and also had a 9-4 shots on goal advantage.

Keith Cline saved six shots while his counterpart turned two shots back.
Point Loma plays its final home game of the year on Saturday when they host Biola starting at 3:00 pm.
