SAN DIEGO – Cal Baptist continued its strong start in Pacific West Athletic Conference play with a 2-0 win over the Point Loma men's soccer team on Tuesday, Oct. 2.

Jonathan Fausto and Cole Schmidt each notched goals for the Lancers who improved to 3-1-0 in the PacWest and to 5-2-1 overall. The loss drops the Sea Lions to 2-6-0 (1-5-0 PacWest).

The Lancers seized the early lead on Fausto's header goal in the ninth minute. The score would remain that way into halftime. Fausto would then help CBU extend its lead as he assisted on Cole Schmit's goal in the 48th minute.

Carter Phillips kept the Sea Lions in the match with five saves. Daniel ten Bosch had three of PLNU's seven shots, including two shots on goal. Fausto led the Lancers with five shots and three shots on goal.

The men's soccer team will be at home again on Saturday, Oct. 6 to take on Hawaii Pacific at 11:00 a.m.
