SAN DIEGO – Point Loma Nazarene cruised to an 86-50 conference win over Hope International Tuesday night in Golden Gymnasium. The Sea Lions (16-9, 7-6) were led by NAIA National Player of the Week Nyla Bailey's 29 points.

The Green and Gold has now won four of its last five Golden State Athletic Conference contests and are above .500 in the conference standings for the first time this season.

PLNU outshot HIU 52 percent to 32 percent and had a huge rebound (47-23) advantage. The Sea Lions also outblocked (6-0), had more steals (11-8) and assists (21-11) than did the Royals.

Brianna Colon made the first bucket of the night Tuesday to put PLNU in front 2-0. It was a lead that the Sea Lions held for the rest of the game.

The gap grew to 10 points seven minutes in and hit 18 points by halftime. PLNU pushed its advantage to 20 points with the first shot of the second half. The lead swelled to 40 points at 2:44.

The last time that these two teams met was in Fullerton on January 10. The Sea Lions needed a last-second 3-pointer to pull out a one-point win.

Since then, though, the Sea Lions have started coming together as a team while the Royals have been hit hard with injuries. Hope International suited up just seven players Tuesday.

Ten players scored for PLNU. Colon had 15 points for the Sea Lions with Joelle Herron adding 9 points, Abby Boorman had eight points and Crissa Jackson added seven points, nine rebounds and 10 assists to the win.

The Royals (4-21, 1-12 GSAC) had one player reach double-figures in points: Morgan Rentie with 14.

PLNU travels to Biola this Saturday for a 5:30 pm conference game.
