SAN DIEGO - Azusa Pacific's Jeremy Bishop notched a goal in the 31st minute and the Cougars would never relinquish the lead en route to earning a 3-1 win over Point Loma on Tuesday, Sept. 25.
The loss drops PLNU to 2-4-0 on the season and to 1-3-0 in the PacWest. Azusa Pacific is now 5-2-1 on the year and 3-1-0 in conference.
Following Bishop's goal, the Cougars would tack on two more goals in the second half to extend their lead to 3-0.
Dylan Wingrove would cut APU's lead back to two with a goal in the 78th minute off a cross from
Ian Vedder. However, this would be as close as PLNU would get.
"To be good we have to pass the ball well and we didn't do that in the first half," PLNU head coach Philip Wolf said. "In the second half we were much better. We moved the ball well and had some good ideas."
Carter Phillips made three saves for the Sea Lions, who were outshot by the Cougars 10-8.
"It is a learning process and the guys are continuing to get better," added Wolf.
Point Loma's next match will be Saturday, Sept. 29th when the Sea Lions travel to the desert to face Dixie State.
