SAN DIEGO - California Baptist scored four goals in the second half to earn a 4-0 win over the Point Loma men's soccer team on Saturday, Oct. 19.
Both PLNU and CBU entered the match tied with two other teams atop the Pacific West Conference with 15 points. The decision in the contest created some separation in the PacWest standings. Cal Baptist (10-3, 6-1 PacWest) remained in a tie for first place in the conference with Azusa Pacific and Fresno Pacific, while Point Loma (6-5-3, 4-2-3 PacWest) fell back to fifth place.
The Sea Lions and the Lancers were scoreless through the first 53 minutes before Wyatt Dean broke the tie with his first goal of the season. The Lancers would quickly tack on two more goals in the 60th and 69th minutes. Chris Gaitan would then notch his second goal of the match in the 87th minute for the 4-0 final margin of victory.
The PLNU men's soccer team will take a competition hiatus for a week before playing at Dixie State next Saturday (Oct. 26) at 10:30 a.m. (PST).
