SAN FRANCISCO - The Point Loma women's basketball team fell 67-59 to Academy of Art on Tuesday (Dec. 3) in the Pacific West Conference opener for both teams.

The Sea Lions are now 2-3 (0-1 PacWest) on the season as AAU improved to 3-4 (1-0 PacWest).

Five Urban Knights scored in double-figures in the contest. Jasmin Guinn led the way with 13 points.

Savannah Erskine led PLNU and all scorers with 18 points. She also added six assists and five steals. Jessica Escorza added 13 points, and Callie Rhoads posted 12 points and eight rebounds. This was Rhoads' second straight game leading the Sea Lions on the glass.

The rebounding edge would be one of the determining factors in the game. The Urban Knights had a plus-9 (36-27) advantage on the boards.

However, the deciding factor in the contest was a 17-2 run by AAU in the first half.  The Urban Knight led 13-12 after the first five minutes of play then rattled off 17 of the next 19 points to push their lead to 30-14.

PLNU continued to battle back and cut the lead to four (53-49) midway through the second half but AAU responded with a 14-2 run to put the game away.

PLNU will now prepare to play at Holy Names on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
