WHAT'S HAPPENING:
The Point Loma women's basketball team will enter the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) West Regional as the No. 3 seed after finishing the 2012-13 regular season at 14-12. The Sea Lions will head to No. 2 seed Azusa Pacific (15-10) on Tuesday, Mar. 5 to face the Cougars at 5:30 p.m.

A LOOK AT THE SEA LIONS:
PLNU is coming off a heartbreaking 67-65 loss to Dixie State on Senior Night. Johnna Brown hit a shot from behind the backboard as time expired to lift the Red Storm to the victory. The Sea Lions ended the regular season with a 14-12 record. They also placed eighth in the Pacific West Conference standings with a 10-8 record, their first season in the league. PLNU has won seven of its last nine games.
Callie Rhoads leads Point Loma and ranks ninth in the league with 14.6 ppg. She leads the league with 2.5 treys made per game and ranks second in 3-point field goal percentage (43.9). She is also second in minutes played (33.2), and is tied for 10th in steals (2.0).
Andrea Campbell continues to lead the conference in blocked shots with 3.1 per game.
Savannah Erskine is second in assists (4.4), fourth in steals (2.7), seventh in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.2) and 10th in 3-point percentage (32.3).
Jessica Escorza is ranked 10th in field goal percentage (46.6) and seventh in free throw percentage (76.2) while averaging 10.3 ppg.
NCCAA WEST REGIONAL:
The NCCAA West Regional will start on Tuesday, Mar. 5. California Baptist earned the No. 1 seed in the West with a 21-5 record. They will host No. 4 seed Hope International (12-18) in Riverside, Calif., on Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. The No. 3 Sea Lions will take on No. 2 Azusa Pacific on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. PLNU and Azusa Pacific split their two regular season matchups. Point Loma won the opener over APU 61-42 in San Diego on Dec. 1, and then dropped the return trip to Azusa 57-31 on Jan. 8. The winners of the first round games will meet at the home of the highest seeded team still remaining on Thursday. The winner of the West Region will advance to the NCCAA national tournament March 13-16 in Winona Lake, Indiana.
RHOADS, ESCORZA NAMED TO ALL-REGION TEAM:
Callie Rhoads has been named to the NCCAA All-West Region first team and
Jessica Escorza was voted to the second team.
Savannah Erskine also picked up honorable mention honors.
SCOUTING AZUSA PACIFIC:
The Cougars surprised everyone on Saturday by knocking off then-PacWest co-leader Grand Canyon 63-57 and prevent GCU from winning the conference title. The win moved Azusa Pacific past Point Loma in the NCCAA West Region standings and gave the Cougars the right to host the first round of the regional. APU is 15-10 on the season and placed fifth in the PacWest standings with a 12-5 conference mark. Hannah Kenny leads the team with 15.1 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. She was named the NCCAA West Region Newcomer of the Year. Kelly Hardeman picked up the NCCAA West Region Freshman of the Year honors after averaging 13.5 points and 6.8 rebounds, while shooting 36 percent from 3-point range.
