SAN RAFAEL, Calif. - The Point Loma men's soccer team earned a win in its first Pacific West Conference match of the 2013 season by shutting out Dominican (CA) on the road 3-0 on Thursday, Sept. 19.
The Sea Lions (3-2-0, 1-0-0 PacWest) got first period goals from
Nico Tagaloa in the 4th minute and from
Nathan Miramontes in the 15th minute to seize a lead which they would never relinquish.
Daniel ten Bosch, who leads the PacWest in points, was credited with an assist on Tagaloa's goal and then added a goal of his own in the 66th minute to put PLNU into the commanding 3-0 lead.
Carter Phillips registered his second shutout of the season in the contest. He had to make just one save.
Meanwhile, Point Loma assaulted the Penguins' net throughout the match, outshooting them 16-5 including 9-1 in shots on goal.
The PLNU men's soccer team will close out its road trip to the Bay Area on Saturday (Sept. 21) when it takes on Notre Dame de Namur at 1:30 p.m.
