Box Score SAN DIEGO - The Point Loma men's soccer team had its five-match winning streak snapped on Saturday (Nov. 1) in a 2-1 loss to Holy Names.

The match started quickly with
Joshua Eusebio putting Point Loma (6-8-2, 6-4-1 PacWest) up 1-0 on a goal in the third minute. However, the Sea Lions' lead was short-lived as Holy Names' Jaime Phillips answered with a goal in the fourth minute to tie the match at 1-1.

Christopher Gonzalez provided the game-winning goal for Holy Names ( 5-11, 3-7 PacWest) in the 28th minute. While in transition Phillips found Martinez open in the box and he rocketed a shot into the net.

 The early goal by Phillips broke a three-match shutout streak for the Sea Lions. It was also the first time they had allowed two goals in a match since the opening match of October.
Avrin Yakou made six saves for Point Loma, and Griffin Thomas had three for the Hawks.

This was the final home match of 2014 for Point Loma. The Sea Lions honored its two seniors,
Bobby Ornelas and
Matt Rose, with a ceremony prior to the match.

Point Loma's next match will be a non-conference contest against Cal State San Marcos on Tuesday, Nov. 4 at 3:00 p.m.Â
