Box Score RIVERSIDE - California Baptist scored a pair of late goals to comeback on the Point Loma men's soccer team and earn a 2-1 win in the season finale for each team on Saturday, Nov. 8.
PLNU (6-10-2, 6-5-1 PacWest) held a 1-0 lead after CBU knocked in an own goal in the 54th minute.
California Baptist (7-9-1, 6-5-0 PacWest) got the equalizer in the 78th minute when Chris Gaitan found Josh Robinson with a through ball for the score.
The game-winner came right after PLNU received a double yellow card to drop down a man. Less than 20 seconds later Daniel Westholm dribbled through the Sea Lions' defense for the game-winning goal in the 85th minute.
PLNU would have a pair of chances to answer in the final minute. First
Tyler Allen got a good look with a minute left but his shot went wide. The Sea Lions then fought to get the ball back, and a CBU yellow card gave PLNU a free kick with five seconds on the clock, but
Nico Tagaloa's shot on goal was saved as the buzzer expired.
Ian Clark had three saves for the Lancers while
Avrin Yakou made four for the Sea Lions. All four of PLNU's shots in the match were on goal.
Point Loma ends the 2014 season at 6-10-2 and 6-5-1 in the PacWest.
