Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Point Loma runs winning streak to five

SAN DIEGO - Point Loma men's soccer team got goals from Andrew Ritchie and Daniel ten Bosch to defeat Chaminade 2-0 in PacWest play on Monday, Oct. 12.

This was the fifth straight win for PLNU (6-3-0, 5-1-0 PacWest) and it moved them within one point behind Dixie State for first place in the PacWest standings. The loss drops Chaminade (0-6-0 PacWest) to 0-9-0 on the season.

Andy Ritchie put PLNU in front 1-0 on a penalty kick in the 33rd minute. Daniel ten Bosch then extended the lead to 2-0 with a goal in the 53rd minute. Both goals were unassisted.

"We extend ourselves at Fresno Pacific and then to drive home and play we knew today was not going to be easy," said Point Loma head coach Phil Wolf. "It was more about the result than the performance today."

Avrin Yakou earned his first shutout of the season while making four saves. PLNU outshot Chaminade 19-12 in the contest, including 14-6 in the second half.

"Our defending is good right now," said Wolf. "We aren't conceding much.

"Three points are three points no matter who you play," Wolf added. "We have to keep grinding along.

The Sea Lions will now prepare to travel to Concordia (CA) to face the Eagles on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 1:30 p.m.
