A look at the Sea Lions
The Sea Lions are riding a five-game win streak going into their match against Concordia (CA) after defeating Chaminade 2-0 on Monday (Oct. 12). The Sea Lions are now 6-3-1 on the season and 5-1 in the PacWest. PLNU has 15 points in PacWest play, and sit third in the standings. The Sea Lions are one point back of second-place Fresno Pacific and two points behind first-place Dixie State.
 
Manu Montal leads PLNU with five goals on the season. He is third in the PacWest in points with 12 and tied for seventh in goals. Nico Tagaloa is tied for 15th in the PacWest with nine points. He is also tied with teammate Patrice Glaser for 11th in the PacWest with .3 assists per game. Goal keeper Michael Lambert also ranks high in the PacWest in a number of categories. As a team, ranks third in the PacWest with 1.7 goals per game. The Sea Lions are second in the league with just 0.7 goals allowed per game and third with a .821 save percentage. PLNU is also near the bottom of the league in fouls committed.
 
Defensive stand
The Sea Lions have been led all season by their defense which ranks second in the PacWest and 15th in the country with a 0.67 goals against average. Goalies Michael Lambert and Avrin Yakou have saved .821 shots taken against them to also rank second in the PacWest and 22nd in NCAA Division II.  Individually, Lambert is 11th in the country with a 0.562 goals against average and 17th with a .833 save percentage. As a team, PLNU is shutting out its opponents in 40 percent of its contests.
 
A look at the Eagles
Concordia (CA) is in its first year as an active member of the PacWest. The Eagles hit the .500 mark in conference after coming away from last Saturday's match against Chaminade with a 5-2 victory. The Eagles are currently 3-7-0 overall and 3-3-0 in the PacWest. Concordia's nine points have it ranked ninth in the PacWest standings.
 
Sophomore Connor Gordon leads the team with three goals and is 13th in the PacWest for goals on the season. Seven other student-athletes have contributed to the Eagles total goal count of 12.
 
The Eagles' defense is letting in 2.20 goals per game for a total of 22 goals against. They rank fourth for most goals against in the PacWest. Goalkeeper Jordan Brinkley has made 49 saves this season for a .690 save percentage. He is tied for fourth in the PacWest in saves.
 
Next week
The Sea Lions travel to the Bay Area for a pair of PacWest matches. The Sea Lions will face Academy of Art on Thursday, Oct. 22 at 1:00 p.m. and then on Saturday, Oct. 24 the Sea Lions will face Notre Dame de Namur at 2:00 p.m.
