BELMONT, Calif. - The Point Loma volleyball team swept the Notre Dame de Namur Argonauts 25-17, 25-10 and 25-9, making only six attacking errors in the process (Oct. 24).
This was the fifth straight win for Point Loma, which improved to 13-8 on the season and to 8-5 in the PacWest. NDNU drops to 6-12 and 3-9 in the PacWest.
The Sea Lions' defense had its second-best performance of the season, holding the Argonauts to a -.009 hitting percentage. This included holding them to a negative mark in two of the three sets, and a -.156 percentage in the third set where NDNU had 10 errors and just five kills. On the other side, PLNU posted a .330 hitting percentage in the match with just two errors in each set.
Point Loma also dominated at the net winning the blocking battle 11-1.
Dixie Cooper led the way with six blocks.
Savannah Wedemeyer added four, and
Heather Leavitt had three.
Leavitt also had a match-best 13 kills. She added 10 digs for the double-double.
Bethany Mandon had 10 kills, and both
Sierra Bates and
Bree Vieth added five apiece. Wedemeyer added 33 assists and two aces.
Christin Fisher had a match-best 18 digs.
Dominique Tarrant paced the Argonauts with eight kills.
The Sea Lions Will play a non-conference match on Tuesday, Oct. 27 at Cal State San Marcos starting at 7:00 p.m. PLNU will then host first-place California Baptist on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 5:00 p.m.
