ST. GEORGE, Utah - The Point Loma volleyball team dropped a straight set decision on the road to PacWest-leading Dixie State, 25-20, 25-21 and 27-25, on Saturday, Nov. 7.

The loss snapped the Sea Lions' (16-9, 10-6 PacWest) eight-game winning streak and knocked them three games back of Dixie State (16-8, 13-3 PacWest) in the standings with four games remaining for each team.

Point Loma had their opportunity to take each of the three sets, but each time the Red Storm put together a late run which the Sea Lions had no answer for to close out the set.

Heather Leavitt and
Kelli LeClair each posted double-doubles. Leavitt had 14 kills and 12 digs. LeClair also notched 14 kills along with 11 digs and a .353 hitting percentage.
Christin Fisher added a match-high 23 digs and
Savannah Wedemeyer dished out 39 assists in the three sets.

 Dixie State's defense was slightly better than Point Loma's in the match, and that was the difference. DSU outblocked PLNU 7.0-2.0 and outhit them .280 to .248. Delayne Daniel paced Dixie State with 16 kills and a .361 hitting percentage. Makenzi Bird-Murphey also had eight kills and no errors.

The Point Loma volleyball team will go on the road next week to play three matches in Hawaii. PLNU will face Hawaii Hilo on Thursday (Nov. 12), Hawaii Pacific on Friday and Chaminade on Saturday.Â
