RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Four Sea Lions scored in double-figures but it was not enough to overcome No. 6 California Baptist's offensive assault as the Sea Lions fell to the Lancers, 94-68, on Saturday, Dec. 19.
Â
Nationally ranked CBU improved to 10-1 with the win (2-1 PacWest). The loss dropped PLNU to 7-4 on the season and to 1-3 in the PacWest.
Â
Roya Rustamzada,
Alex Brunk,

Sydney Tonack all reached double-figures and accounted for 59 of the Sea Lions' 68 points. Rustamzada paced Point Loma with 19 points, five rebounds and two steals. She added three assists and three 3-pointers.
Â

Â
"We loss to a great team today," explained Point Loma assistant coach
Dwayne Cosby. "The one word summary of Cal Baptist is efficient. Their execution was better than our defense. Their discipline was better than our attention to detail. Factor in our inability to adjust to officials and play defense and it was a perfect storm. They are a top 5 team for a reason."
Â
Point Loma trailed 51-38 at the half. CBU outscored PLNU 22-12 in the third quarter to put the game away. The Sea Lions shot 6-of-10 from 3-point range to stay in the game in the first half, but went just 3-of-12 from deep in the final 20 minutes as the Lancers pulled away.
Â
"This game was a good gauge to measure where we are at, and we came to the conclusion we are not contenders yet," Cosby added. "This is the second game that a star player didn't play and we lost terribly. We have to play a B+ game every night to be competitive. After tonight our main concern will definitely be defensive fundamentals."
Â
PLNU will now take a competition hiatus over the Holidays before returning to action on Jan. 5 at Notre Dame de Namur. The game will tipoff at 5:00 p.m.Â
