SAN DIEGO - Once again the Point Loma men's tennis team hosted one of the top teams in the country as NCAA Division III No. 1 ranked Amherst College visited the PLNU Tennis Courts on Monday, Mar. 16. The Sea Lions grabbed two of the three doubles points but it was not enough as Amherst took all six singles matches.
 
This is the third straight match the Sea Lions (6-8) have played a team ranked No. 1 or No. 2 in NCAA Division II and Division III. Amherst is now 4-0 on the season.
 
The match began in singles and the Lord Jeffs quickly put PLNU in the hole 4-0 with four straight set victories. Daniel Milliken and CJ Erion both pushed their opponents to the third set before falling. With those wins Amherst took the match.  
 
The Sea Lions showed resiliency by fighting back to take two of three doubles and prevent any thought of a sweep. Andre Staab and Daniel Milliken picked up an 8-5 with at No. 1s and James Tenbroeck and Grant Alston won 9-8 at No. 3s.
 
Point Loma's next match will be Thursday, Mar. 19 when it hosts San Diego Christian at 4:00 p.m.
