SAN DIEGO - The Point Loma baseball team completed a four-game sweep of Hawaii Hilo by taking both games of Saturday's doubleheader. PLNU won the opener 5-3 and the nightcap 4-3 to extend their winning streak to 11 games.
Â
The 11-game winning streak is the longest for PLNU since 2009. The Sea Lions stand alone in second place in the PacWest at 12-4 and 24-7 overall. The losses drop UHH to 6-19 on the season and to 4-16 in the PacWest.

Kellen Sheppard to a 5-0 lead after four innings, as the Sea Lions held on for 5-3 victory.

Â
Carter put Point Loma up 3-0 in the third with a three-run homer, his fifth of the season. He also knocked in a two-out, opposite field single in the fourth to extend the Sea Lions lead to 5-0. Carter went 2-for-3 with a home run, four RBI and a run scored in the contest.
Â
Hawaii Hilo scored all three of its runs in the sixth inning but Sheppard battled through the inning and then turned the ball over the bullpen.
Noah Huggins,
Mickey Dunleavy and Huntley each pitched perfect innings to thwart any chance of a Vulcans' rally. Sheppard improved to 4-0 by allowing just six hits and three runs (two earned) while striking out six.

Â
Game 2Hawaii Hilo jumped on Point Loma with two runs in the top of the first, but just as the Sea Lions have done all season, they battled back for the victory.
Â
Tyler Baker quickly answered with a  solo home run to lead off the Sea Lions' half of the first inning. PLNU would tie the game in the second on a sacrifice fly but
Anthony Torres, and take the 4-2 lead in the third on back-to-back RBI its by
Devin Carter and
Joseph Keller.
Â
With the lead
Trevor Abshire (4-1) seemed to settle in. He did not allow a run after the first inning and finished with nine hits and three runs allowed over five innings. He struck out seven and did not walk a batter.
Â
Patrick McMullen then delivered a perfect eighth inning, before going to
Garrett Gooding to close out the game. Gooding did not allow a hit but the Vulcans' Sam Kim made it interesting with one out as he blasted a ball to right field that
Devin Carter snagged on a leaping catch against the wall to preserve the one-run lead in the seventh.
Â
Keller had two of the Sea Lions' seven hits in the game.
Devin Carter was 1-for-3 with a walk, an RBI, a run scored and two stolen bases.
