PLNU men's tennis falls to nation's No. 1 team

SURPRISE, Ariz. - The Sea Lions' attempted run to the PacWest Conference Men's Tennis Championships ended in the semifinals when PLNU was ousted by the nation's No. 1 team, Hawaii Pacific, 5-0 on Friday, Apr. 17.

Despite the final score the match was a competitive one. The Sea Lions (12-10) dropped the first two doubles matches and were right in it on court 1 but the No. 5 ranked national doubles pair from HPU broke the serve of the Sea Lions and carried that momentum to a 8-6 win and a 3-0 advantage for the Sharks heading into singles.

PLNU was playing very well on courts 1, 5 and 6, even leading by a set but the Sharks clinched the match with victories on courts 2 and 3.

Point Loma will play BYU-Hawaii for third place in the PacWest on Saturday, Apr. 18 at 9:00 a.m. The Seasiders won the match earlier in the season over the Sea Lions 5-4 on Feb. 23.
