A look at the Sea LionsThe Sea Lions (1-3-1, 0-1-0 PacWest) are looking to snap a four-match winless streak. In their PacWest opener, PLNU couldn't pull out a win against the Red Storm after Jason Arollo headed a ball in the fifth minute and Dixie State sat in defensively for the next 85 minutes.
Â
Nico Tagaloa continues to lead the team with two goals but hasn't been able to find the back of the net since the men's first game against Cal State Dominguez Hills. The team's overall goals per game average dropped to 1.00 after last match despite their overall shot count moving up to 61-29.
Â
The Sea Lions have now allowed five goals in five matches. Lambert has recorded the only shutout of the season (vs. CSUDH) while Yakou has a slightly better goals against average (0.9). Yakou is riding a .667 save percentage while Lambert is barely nudging him out at .700. Combined the goalkeepers have made 11 saves.
Â
A look at the CougarsThe Azusa Pacific men's soccer team is 0-3-2 on the season. They opened PacWest last week at Dixie State with a 1-1 result. All-conference and All-West Region standout Keenan Armbrust returns this season to lead the Cougars attack. He has two goals this season after posting six last year. Â Four other Cougars have contributed to the team's six goals. Goalkeeper Tyler Jaramillo leads the defense. He has 16 saves and a percentage of .552. As a team, APU is allowing 2.6 goals per match.
Â
A look at the LancersThe Cal Baptist men's soccer team will come into their match against the Sea Lions on Saturday, Oct. 3 with a 2-4-1 record on the season and 1-1-0 in PacWest play. Daniel Westholm, a transfer from Sweden, and Jeromy Gurule lead the team in goals with three each on the season. Three other Lancers have contributed to the team's 10-goal count. Although the Lancers have only won two of their games they have had no trouble finding the back of net in any of their matches, scoring at least one goal per match since their initial loss to Seattle Pacific. Their most recent victory, against Dominican (2-1), is their first win in PacWest play and will take them into their game against PLNU.
