Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's soccer scores in second half to tie BYUH

LAIE, Hawaii - Keyran Kelly scored in the first minute of the second half and the Point Loma men's soccer team went on to earn a 1-1 tie against BYU-Hawaii to start its four-match Hawaii road trip. (Oct. 22)

This was the fourth tie for the season for the Sea Lions, but their first in PacWest play. PLNU is now 5-5-4 on the season and currently in ninth in the PacWest standings (4-4-1). BYU-Hawaii is right in front of Point Loma in the standings with a 4-4-2 mark in league play (5-5-3 overall).

Once again Point Loma was forced to play from behind after conceding an early goal, however this time Kelly had the equalizer. After the Seasiders got on the board first with a goal by Edgar Mesa Perez in the 15th minute, the score stayed the same until 43 seconds into second half when Kelly got a pass from Eduardo Gallardo and deked the defender before putting the ball into the net to tie the match.

The game stayed locked at 1-1 through the rest of regulation and through both overtimes as both teams walked away another point up in the standings.

Michael Lambert had six saves for the Sea Lions. It was the fourth time this season Lambert has come up with six or more saves in a match. BYU-Hawaii's Dwayne Wittman had one save for the Seasiders.

Point Loma will be back on the pitch at Hawaii Pacific on Monday, Oct. 24 in the second of their four-match Hawaii road trip. The match will begin at 3:30 p.m. (PST)
