Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Johansen notches first-career goal in win

HONOLULU - The trip to Hawaii is always a memorable one for the Point Loma student-athletes, but this day will be one that Brady Johansen will never forget as the senior defender notched his first career goal in a 3-1 win over Chaminade on Thursday, Oct. 27.

The Sea Lions have now won back-to-back matches, and earned results in their last five, to move into a tie for third place in the PacWest standings at 6-4-1 (7-5-3 overall). The loss evens Chaminade's record in PacWest play to 5-5 (5-7 overall).

Johansen's goal was the third of the game for the Sea Lions, and was their second-highest scoring output of the season. Johansen was able to go up and challenge on a cross and managed to get a piece of the ball with his head to deflect it into the net for the commanding 3-0 lead. It was his first career goal after starting nearly every game over the past four years.

Point Loma built a 2-0 lead at the half on goals by Keyran Kelly in the 12th minute and Chris Reingen in the 28th. Both goals came on assists from Eduardo Gallardo. This was the third straight game with a goal for Kelly.

Chaminade's only score came in the final minute of the match to break up the shutout by the Sea Lions. Michael Lambert earned the win playing all 90 minutes in goal while making three saves for Point Loma. Bernd Buescherhoff had six saves for the Silverswords.

PLNU will wrap up its Hawaii road trip on Saturday, Oct. 29 against Hawaii Hilo. The match will start at 7:30 p.m. (PST).
