Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Early goal by Argonauts enough to edge Sea Lions

SAN DIEGO - An early goal doomed the Point Loma men's soccer team once again, as it fell 2-0 to Notre Dame de Namur on Saturday, Oct. 8.

Point Loma is now 3-5-3 on the season (2-4-0 PacWest) as NDNU improves to 6-4 (4-1 PacWest).

This PLNU squad is built to play with the lead, but that lead has alluded them all year.  This time it was Esteban Berumen who scored in the 5th minute to immediately put Point Loma on its heels. The Sea Lions had a couple good looks at the equalizer, including one by Patrice Glaser that hit the post in a 1v1 with the keeper, but they never got that tying goal. NDNU would tack on another score in the 64th minute and then sit in on defense to put the match away.

PLNU goalie Michael Lambert matched a season-high with seven saves. His counterpart Alex Clewis also made seven saves for the Argonauts.

Point Loma will be back in action next week to host a pair of contests to close out its 2016 home schedule. The Sea Lions will welcome in Holy Names on Thursday, Oct. 13 at 1 p.m., and preseason conference favorites Fresno Pacific on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 11:30 a.m.
