Josh Rodriguez matched his season-high with 26 points and
Zach Burnham came off the bench to add 17 points and a team-leading nine rebounds to lead the Point Loma men's basketball team to a 76-69 victory over Cal State LA in the APU Cougar Classic on Friday, Nov. 25.

This was the first road win of the season for PLNU (2-3), which has now won back-to-back games. The loss evens the Golden Eagles' record at 3-3.

Rodriguez has scored in double-figures in all five games this season, including hitting the 26-point mark each of the last two games. Tonight, he shot 9-of-13 from the field, including 3-of-5 from 3-point range. The 13 shots were just one more than his season-low yet he was able to match his season-best scoring output. He also added five assists and two steals. Burnham did most of his work at the free throw line. He went 11-of-16 at the charity stripe en route to notching his season-best 17 points. He also grabbed nine rebounds to help PLNU outrebound CSULA 46-31.
Mike Planeta and
Tanner Lancona added 10 points apiece.

Jordan Wilson scored 18 points to lead the Golden Eagles. Devin Means posted 16 points as he went 4-of-5 from 3-point range before fouling out.

The Sea Lions held the lead nearly the entire game until Cal State LA went on a 9-1 run to take the lead at 64-63 with just over four minutes remaining. PLNU answered with a 9-0 run of its own to retake the lead (72-64). During the run four different Sea Lions scored and PLNU went 4-of-4 at the free throw line. Point Loma ended up finishing the game on a 13-5 run to seal the victory.

PLNU will return to action tomorrow (Nov. 26) to face coach
Ryan Looney's previous team, Seattle Pacific, at 5:30 p.m. in its final game of the APU Cougar Classic. Â
