LOS ANGELES - Point Loma won both games of a doubleheader over Cal State LA 6-3 and 8-4 to complete the series sweep against the Golden Eagles (Feb. 13).

The Sea Lions won all four games in the series to improve to 4-3 on the season. The losses drop CSULA to 1-6.

Game 1Ryan Garcia and
Devin Carter hit back-to-back homers in the seventh inning to help Point Loma overcome an early deficit and defeat CSULA, 6-3.

The Golden Eagles built a 3-0 lead through five innings aided by a pair of solo home runs. The comeback began with
Joseph Keller singling and
Kellen Sheppard doubling to put two in scoring position with no outs. PLNU then made a pair of productive outs to drive in two and cut the deficit to one (3-2).

Point Loma kept that momentum in the seventh, putting two runners on in front of
Ryan Garcia, who went yard for the second time in the series.
Devin Carter followed with a solo shot to put Point Loma in front 6-3.

The Sea Lions bullpen then did as they have all series, put up zeroes.
Ryan Casper pitched a perfect sixth and seventh innings to earn the win. He turned it over to
Noah Huggins in the eighth then
Nathan Bennett in the ninth to secure the victory. It was Bennett's first career save.

PLNU outhit CSULA 12-6.
Joseph Keller went 3-for-4 with a double to lead the Sea Lions.
AJ Derr,
Derek Slate and
Devin Carter also collected two hits apiece. Carter also scored two runs on his birthday.

Garrett Dean was 3-for-4 with a home run for CSULA.

Merrick Patito took the loss after surrendering two hits, a walk and two runs scored in .1 innings of work. Both starters came out after the fifth. PLNU's
Trevor Abshire allowed six hits and three runs, while walking three and striking out two. CSULA's Christian Broussard allowed five hits and two runs to go along with four walks and four strikeouts.
Game 2Ryan Garcia went 1-for-2 with a home run, four RBI and two runs scored and
AJ Derr was 4-for-4 with three runs scored to lead Point Loma to an 8-4 win in the series finale.

Point Loma was up 2-0 after two innings thanks to a sacrifice fly by Garcia to plate Derr and solo home run by
Kellen Sheppard. CSULA took the lead with a three run fourth inning and were up 3-2 heading into the sixth when once again Point Loma rallied for the victory.

Derr started things off with a single then back-to-back Sea Lions reached on errors the second of which scored two to put PLNU in front 4-3. Carter added an insurance run on an RBI-single.

CSULA cut the lead back to one with a run in the bottom of the sixth but PLNU rallied once again in the seventh behind consecutive singles to lead off the inning and a three-run shot by Garcia. The junior first baseman finished the series with three home runs and eight RBI.

Coleman Huntley III set the school-record for career saves as he notched his third save of the season. He came into the seventh with one out and two runners on and retired both batters to complete the win for PLNU starter
Kevin Lillicrop (1-0), who pitched five innings allowing six hits and three runs (two earned). CSULA's starter Mitchell Moore took the loss after allowing seven hits and five runs (three earned) in six innings of work.
