Jack Alston won in singles for the second straight day, and the No. 26 Point Loma men's tennis team also picked up points from
James Tenbroeck and in No. 1 doubles but in the race to five points the Sea Lions fell short as No. 11 Azusa Pacific won the match 6-3.

The Cougars improved to 5-1 on the season as the Sea Lions fell to 0-5.

APU started the match with a win at No. 2 doubles. PLNU No. 25 nationally ranked doubles team of
Andre Staab and
Daniel Milliken then defeated Jan Meyer and Christian Schmid to tie the match at 1-1. Unfortunately, just minutes later Azusa Pacific won at No. 3 double to take a 2-1 lead to singles.

The Cougars made sure not to give Point Loma any more hope as thy won in straight sets at No. 1-3 to clinch the match point.

Even with the result in hand for APU, the Sea Lions continued to fight.
James Tenbroeck on in three sets over Pascal Engel at No. 4s 4-6, 6-1 and 6-4. It was Tenbroeck's first singles win of the season.Alston used a tiebreaker to defeat Marnix Pluim at No. 6 singles 2-6, 6-3 and 10-4.

Point Loma's next match will be next Saturday, Feb. 20 at 11:00 a.m., when it hosts Holy Names.Â
