SAN DIEGO - The Point Loma men's tennis team made it five straight wins with a 6-3 victory over PacWest foe Hawaii Hilo on Saturday, Mar. 19.
 
The Sea Lions have now won six of their last seven to improve to 8-9 on the season. The loss drops UHH to 2-6.
 
Point Loma set the tone by winning all three doubles matches. The Sea Lions won convincingly on courts 1 and 3 before CJ Erion and Adrian von Braun captured the finals doubles point on court 2 by the score of 8-6 to give PLNU the 3-0 lead going into singles.
 
"Everyone did a great job of starting doubles strong and playing aggressive but smart," said PLNU head coach Curt Wheeler.
 
Needing just two wins in singles, the Sea Lions received straight set victories from Martin Blaho on court 1 (7-5, 6-2), CJ Erion on court 4 (6-1, 6-2) and Adrian von Braun on court 6 (6-2, 6-2). The only matches of the day Point Loma lost came in five sets.
 
"We've had some close matches that we were able to pull out," said Wheeler talking about the Sea Lions' winning streak. "Lots of these matches have come down to playing good tennis in big moments."
 
The early part of next week will be extremely busy for the Sea Lions as they have matches on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The Sea Lions will host Williams on Monday and Portland State on Tuesday, before traveling to Concordia.
