The Point Loma men's tennis team will travel to Surprise, Ariz., to play in the PacWest Championships on Apr. 14-16. The Sea Lions earned the No. 3 seed in the tournament and will face No. 6 seeded Concordia (CA) in the quarterfinals on Thursday, Apr. 14 at 1:30 p.m., at the Surprise Tennis and Racquet Center. [

On the PacWest Tournament
The 2016 PacWest Men's Tennis Championship is an eight-team tournament at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex in Surprise, Ariz. Each team will play one dual match per day, with a champions and consolation bracket. Match structure is three doubles matches (8-game pro-sets with a tiebreak played at 8 games each) followed by six singles matches (two-out-of-three tiebreak sets). Matches are finished when one team records five points. [

A look at the Sea Lions
The No. 29 Point Loma men's tennis team went 10-12 on the season to earn the No. 3 seed in the PacWest tournament. The Sea Lions also ranked No. 4 in the first NCAA West Regional poll which was released on Wednesday, Apr. 13. PLNU was 5-3 against teams in the PacWest Tournament.
Andre Staab has played at the top for the Sea Lions in nearly every match this season. He is the No. 5 ranked singles player in the West and the No. 21 in the country. He went 9-9 this season.
Martin Blaho gives the Sea Lions a solid No. 2 as he went 12-10 this season and is ranked No. 12 in the West. He has won eight of his last 10 matches.
CJ Erion owns the Sea Lions best mark as an individual with a 13-8 record, including a 7-2 mark while playing at No. 4 singles. Also expected to see time in singles for the Sea Lions are

Daniel Milliken and
Adrian von Braun.
In doubles, Milliken and Staab are the No. 2 ranked team in the West and No. 15 in the nation. This is their season straight season playing together. This year they posted a record of 10-9. The No. 3 doubles team of Blaho and Tenbroeck has been rolling with victories in eight of their last 10 matches. Erion and von Braun are expected to pair up at No. 2 doubles.
A look at the Eagles
Concordia went 4-12 this season. The Sea Lions and Eagles hooked up twice during the regular season with PLNU winning both 6-3. CUI's No. 1 singles player Till Guttenberger has gone 7-9 this season.
NCAA West Regional
Point Loma is hoping to make a run at the PacWest Championships to earn one of the three places in the NCAA West Regional which will be held May 7-10. The top 3 teams in the final ITA West region rankings will earn a trip to the NCAA Regional.
